On Tuesday, a 32-year-old woman, from Pontiac, lost her life while two people suffered injuries following a traffic collision in St. Clair County.
As per the initial information, officers actively responded to the area of Capac and Donald roads in Mussey Township at about 1:45 p.m. after getting reports of a two-vehicle crash. The preliminary reports showed that a 2006 Pontiac Montana van, driven by a 32-year-old woman, and also occupied by a 29-year-old man, both from Mussey Township, was eastbound on Donald Road.
For unknown reasons, the vehicle ran a stop sign at the Donald and Capac road intersection. At some point of time, the Montana got struck by a 2018 Dodge Promaster van heading south on Capac Road. The Promaster was driven by a 60-year-old St. Clair Shores man. The force of the collision caused both vehicles to roll over, sending the Promaster into a power line pole and the Montana into a field.
The driver of the Montana suffered major injuries and was declared dead at the scene by the officials. Her 29-year-old passenger was provided medical aid for non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Promaster was transported to an area hospital with non-fatal injuries. Both occupants of the Montana were not buckled up at the time of the accident. The driver of the Promaster was wearing a seatbelt at that time. No other details are made available.
The crash remains under investigation.
