Authorities identified 32-year-old Wittney Beckstead and 35-year-old Makelika Schnose, both from Las Vegas, as the women who lost their lives following a two-vehicle collision on Monday in Needles.
The fatal car crash took place on I-40, which is approximately 22 miles from Laughlin. According to the investigation reports, a Jeep, in which the two women were riding, was in the right lane of Interstate 40 when it passed a Hyundai which was in the left lane.
The women’s vehicle then started to merge into the left lane. After that, the left rear of the Jeep slammed into the right front of the Hyundai as a result of which both the vehicles slid out of control. The Jeep flipped multiple times due to the impact. Both the women were not buckled at the time of the crash, officials reported.
The two victims, identified as 32-year-old Wittney Beckstead and 35-year-old Makelika Schnose died of their injuries after the accident. The driver of the Hyundai received minimal injuries as a result of the wreck. According to the authorities, it is unclear if alcohol contributed to the crash. No other information has been provided.
An investigation is ongoing.
