32-year-old Matthew T Brittingham hospitalized after a traffic collision in Rock Island (Rock Island, WA)

Authorities identified 32-year-old Matthew T Brittingham as the victim who was injured after a traffic collision Monday morning in Rock Island.

As per the initial information, the two-vehicle accident took place on State Route 28 and Batterman Road. The preliminary reports showed that Matthew T Brittingham was driving a 2012 Volkswagen Jetta eastbound when he attempted to make a left turn onto State Route 28 and ended up slamming into a westbound 2011 Honda Pilot.

The two vehicles came to a stop after the crash, blocking the highway. On arrival, paramedics transported Brittingham to Confluence Health-Central Washington Hospital in Wenatchee in unknown condition. The two people in the Honda, a 36-year-old Quincy man, and a 38-year-old Quincy man, remained unharmed in the wreck.

Authorities confirmed a citation to Matthew Brittingham for failing to yield. State Route 28 was closed down for about two hours while crews worked at the scene. No other details are available.

An investigation is ongoing.
