Officials identified 32-year-old Luis Baltazar Torres, from Ft. Bliss, as the man who lost his life following a two-vehicle collision on Saturday in south-central El Paso.
The fatal motorcycle crash took place at about 11:52 p.m. on US-54 near the Transmountain exit. According to the investigation reports, the 32-year-old man was driving a 2013 GSXR-R750 heading northbound at a high rate of speed.
As he came upon two vehicles, he changed lanes and tried to drive between them while each vehicle occupied a lane. The motorcyclist failed to maintain control and rear-ended the 2008 Honda Civic, driven by 18-year-old Evan Neria.
Due to the impact, the man was thrown from his bike and he landed on the landscaping rocks that separate US-54 and the Transmountain exit. The rider was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision. He suffered major injuries and was declared dead at the scene by the officials. No other details are made available.
An investigation is continuing.
