The Pima County Sheriff’s Department reported a motor vehicle crash on Tuesday afternoon. The accident happened close to North Sabino Canyon and North Indian Ruins roads at around 3:13 p.m.
Alexandra Hegel, 32, was riding a motorcycle when she collided with a pickup traveling east from Indian Ruins onto Sabino Canyon Road when Hagen was traveling south on Sabino Canyon Road.
Hegel was declared dead at the scene. The 79-year-old pickup truck driver did not sustain any injuries. The name and identity of the driver have not been made public.
On Tuesday, the road was closed while deputies looked into the fatal crash. It is not yet known if alcohol or drugs played a role in the accident. There are no other details available at this time.
