31-year-old Willa Henderson and 72-year-old Mary Henderson died after a crash in San Francisco (San Francisco, CA)

On Monday, the authorities identified 31-year-old Willa Henderson and 72-year-old Mary Henderson, both from Vero Beach, Fla as the women who lost their lives after getting struck by a taxi cab Sunday in San Francisco.

As per the initial information, the fatal pedestrian accident took place at about 4:30 p.m. on 3rd Street and Mission Street in the SoMa neighborhood. The preliminary reports showed that the taxi was involved in the crash with a Mercedes before it ended up on the sidewalk.

On arrival, responders found pedestrians who had been hit by a vehicle that drove onto the sidewalk. Two female pedestrian were trapped underneath the taxi and were declared dead at the scene. The taxi driver and another male pedestrian were transported to the hospital with unspecified injuries.

The driver of the Mercedes remained at the scene after the crash. It is unknown what led up to the initial collision. The pedestrians were all standing together when the incident happened. No further details are available.

An investigation is ongoing.
