On Wednesday, authorities identified 31-year-old Angelina Arizaga as the woman who lost her life after being struck by a vehicle in La Jolla on March 17.
As per the initial information, the fatal auto-pedestrian accident took place at about 11:30 p.m. on March 17. That Thursday night, California Highway Patrol received reports that a pedestrian was on the shoulder of northbound Interstate 5.
Moments later, the agency received another call, this time stating that a pedestrian was in the freeway lanes. After some time, someone called 9-1-1 to report that a vehicle heading in the No. 2 lane had hit a pedestrian south of Genesee Avenue. Angelina Arizaga was declared dead at the scene by the officials. No other information is available.
An investigation is ongoing.
