31-year-old Aaron R Allen, from Louisiana, lost his life while 74-year-old Dale W Eldredge and 61-year-old Amanda Duckworth suffered injuries following a head-on crash Wednesday morning west of Carthage.
As per the initial information, the fatal two-vehicle accident took place on U.S. Highway 79. The preliminary investigation revealed that Aaron R Allen, of Pineville, was heading westbound on U.S. Highway 79 while Dale W Eldredge, of Gary, was going east on the same roadway. Allen passed a vehicle in heavy fog and crashed into Eldredge’s vehicle head-on. Allen was not buckled up at the time of the collision.
He suffered major injuries and was declared dead at the scene by the officials. Eldredge was rushed to UT Health East Texas – Henderson in critical condition, while his passenger Amanda Duckworth, from Gary, was transported to the same hospital with serious injuries. No other details are immediately available.
An investigation is ongoing.
