On Tuesday, three people suffered injuries following a multi-vehicle wreck in Lynden.
As per the initial information, officials actively responded to the 500 block of Birch Bay-Lynden Road at around 7:40am after getting reports of a three-vehicle pile-up. The preliminary investigation revealed that a vehicle going westbound on Birch Bay-Lynden Road approaching Berthusen Road went over the center line, side-swiping an eastbound vehicle which then collided with a third vehicle.
On arrival, firefighters used hydraulic rescue tools to extricate one driver from their vehicle. All three drivers were rushed to PeaceHealth St Joseph Medical Center; one with serious injuries and two with non-fatal injuries. Multiple agencies responded to the crash scene.
Officials shut down Birch Bay-Lynden Road as crews worked at the scene. Law enforcement personnel rerouted traffic around the crash scene through Berthusen Road and Tromp Road. The road was expected to be back open by 10am. No other details are immediately available.
The incident remains under investigation.
