On Saturday afternoon, three people suffered injuries following a multi-vehicle accident in south Thurston County.
As per the initial information, the three-vehicle wreck took place at approximately 3:15 p.m. on US 12 at Pecan Street Southwest near Rochester. The preliminary investigation indicated that a 60-year-old man was driving a 2016 Chevy Corvette traveling south on Pecan Street. At the same time, a 46-year-old Vancouver, Washington man was going west on US 12 in a Ford F-150 pick-up truck.
The Corvette entered the intersection and got hit by the truck. On arrival, emergency personnel airlifted the driver of the Corvette, a 60-year-old Rochester man, to a Seattle hospital for treatment of his injuries. Two other victims involved in the accident did not receive any serious injuries. The Vancouver man also sustained injuries, but was medically cleared at the scene.
Debris from the crash hit a third vehicle in the area. The driver of that vehicle, a 19-year-old Rochester man, remained unharmed. US 12 at Pecan Street Southwest was shut down for more than four hours as crews worked at the scene. The cause of the collision was failure to yield, officers mentioned. No other details are immediately available.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
