On Tuesday, three people were hospitalized following a rear-end collision in Harris County.
As per the initial information, the two-vehicle crash took place at about 2:10 a.m. on Beltway 8. The early reports showed that the Precinct 8 constable deputy had stopped her patrol vehicle on the shoulder when a service vehicle struck the deputy’s vehicle from behind.
Due to the impact, the patrol vehicle slammed into a wall and got engulfed in flames. On arrival, emergency personnel transported the deputy to an area hospital for treatment of her injuries. Two other people in the service vehicle were also shifted to an area hospital for treatment.
None of their injuries were considered life-threatening. Alcohol was not believed to be involved in the accident. It is unknown if the constable deputy had her lights on when the collision occurred. No further details were provided.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
