On Saturday, three people suffered injuries after a semi-truck collided with another vehicle on the city’s Northeast Side.
As per the initial information, the traffic collision took place at about 3 a.m. in the 6300 block of IH-35 North. The early reports showed that a small black vehicle slammed into the 18-wheeler on the access road. After that, both the vehicles hit a pedestrian who was walking along the sidewalk.
The force of the collision sent both vehicles off the road into a wooden utility pole and through a concrete wall of a nearby hotel. The Sedan was stuck between the 18-wheeler and the concrete wall.
The 18-wheeler then continued traveling forward through the wall and smashed into the empty hotel pool. The driver of the 18-wheeler reportedly managed to get out of the vehicle and remained unharmed in the accident. Two occupants of the Sedan were transported by EMS to an area hospital in stable condition.
The pedestrian was rushed to an area hospital with critical injuries. No one inside the hotel received any injuries as a result of the wreck. The driver of the Sedan was assessed for possible DWI. No other details are made available.
The crash remains under investigation.
