3 people, including a 7-year-old girl hospitalized after a crash near Corona de Tucson (Corona de Tucson, AZ)

On early Tuesday, three people, including a 7-year-old girl received injuries following a rear-end collision near Corona de Tucson.

As per the initial information, the two-vehicle crash was reported at about 8 AM on West Sahuarita Road and East Sycamore Ridge Trail, which is just west of Houghton Road. The early reports showed that an SUV and a passenger car were involved in the accident.

According to the authorities, a Dodge Journey SUV was stopped on Sahuarita Road, waiting to make a left turn onto Sycamore Ridge when a Hyundai Elantra crashed into the SUV from behind. On arrival, emergency crews rushed the three victims to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Sahuarita Road was shut down in both directions while crews worked at the scene. Traffic was backed up and motorists were advised to avoid the area. No other information has been provided.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
