On Saturday night, a 3-year-old child, a 9-year-old child and one adult female suffered injuries after a vehicle hit a tree in Reno.
As per the initial information, officers actively responded to the intersection of South McCarran Boulevard and Capitol Boulevard at about 10:34 p.m. after getting reports of a single-vehicle crash. The preliminary investigation revealed that a car failed to stay in the lane, drifted off the road and smashed into a tree.
There were two children and a female adult driver in the vehicle at that time. On arrival, emergency crews transported all of them to the hospital with life threatening injuries. The occupants were not buckled up at the time of the collision. Both speed and impairment contributed to the accident, officials said.
Because of the severity of the crash, RPD’s Major Accident Investigation Team (M.A.I.T.) responded to the scene. Officers have not arrested anyone at this time. The road was shut down for multiple hours as crews worked at the scene, but was back open at 5:00 a.m. on Sunday. No other details are made available.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
