On Thursday morning, five people suffered injuries following a traffic collision in southeast Austin.
As per the initial information, officers actively responded to the area of 10400-10415 Lonesome Lane and FM812 Road close to FM973 at about 6:47 a.m. after getting reports of a two-vehicle crash. The early reports showed that two vehicles crashed into each other and five people suffered injuries as a result of the collision.
One person was trapped in and was freed while emergency responders performed CPR on another victim. STAR Flight was requested at the scene to airlift a person, who needed CPR, to Dell Seton Medical Center while medics rushed another patient to South Austin Medical Center. Both the victims suffered serious, potentially life-threatening injuries.
A third person was rushed to Seton Hays with critical injuries. Authorities closed the intersection of FM812 and FM973 as crews worked at the scene, but it has since reopened. The other two people involved in the accident refused to be taken to the hospital. No additional information has been provided.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
