Three people were hospitalized following a traffic collision Monday in Santa Clarita.
As per the initial information, the two-vehicle accident was first reported on the northbound side of Interstate 5, just north of Magic Mountain Parkway at 12:24 p.m. The preliminary reports showed that a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department inmate transporting bus and a small Toyota were involved in the crash.
It is unknown how many passengers were on the bus at the time of the wreck. Three victims were taken to a local area hospital. It was initially reported that there were 18 people on the bus, but that information could not be officially confirmed.
It seemed that the injuries sustained were to those passengers in the Toyota Prius as officials confirmed that the inmates were headed to Pitchess Detention Center to be further evaluated for any injuries.
The collision prompted the closure of the far-left lane on Interstate 5 and traffic was heavily delayed as far back as the Newhall Pass on the northbound side. No other details are available.
An investigation is ongoing.
