Three men lost their lives following a fiery accident early Monday morning in a residential Anaheim neighborhood.
As per the initial information, the fatal car accident took place at the intersection of Harbor Boulevard and La Palma Avenue just before 2 a.m. The early reports showed that the Mercedes sedan was speeding down Harbor when the driver failed to maintain control of the vehicle after which the car plowed into a brick wall and sheared a hydrant.
Three men in their 20s succumbed to their injuries at the scene. A police cruiser was in the area and its officers saw the car speeding by. The officers rushed to the crash site, removed one of the victims from the car and performed CPR on him, but he died of his injuries.
The car was burned up and split in half, and the force of the collision was so strong that pieces of the car were scattered on the street and in the front yards of nearby homes, dozens of feet apart. It is unknown if drugs or alcohol contributed to the wreck. No other details are available.
The incident remains under review.
