According to Washington State Trooper Robert Reyer, a multi-vehicle collision took place in Tacoma leading to the closure of all lanes of southbound Interstate 5.
The crash was caused by racing, according to the WSP.
According to the statement, three cars were racing before the crash. The cars crashed into each other. A 57-year-old motorcyclist along with a 32-year-old female passenger clipped one of the cars.
The motorcyclist along with the female passenger was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries.
One of the drivers, a 35-years-old man was transported to the hospital.
The crash occurred near South 56th Street at around 1 a.m. and was a quarter-mile long.
According to the police, criminal charges for vehicular assault might be applicable.
The police are also investigating whether the drivers were driving under the influence.
