The New Mexico State Police reported a motor vehicle crash north of Aztec. The accident happened on US 550 at around 7:30 p.m. The collision involved only one vehicle.

According to the preliminary investigation, Salina Levi, 29, of Aztec was operating a 1998 Jeep SUV as it approached a left-hand curve while travelling south on US 550. Levi rolled over after failing to navigate the curve for an unknown reason.

She left the road, hit a tree, and then left the scene. She suffered fatal injuries, and the Office of the Medical Examiner declared her dead at the scene.

Alcohol, speed, and the lack of seatbelt use seem to have contributed to this collision. The New Mexico State Police is conducting an investigation into this fatal crash.
