29-year-old man in critical condition after a van slammed into a parked big rig in Mountain View (San Diego, CA)

A 29-year-old man was left in critical condition after the vehicle he was driving smashed into a parked big rig Tuesday on a Mountain View-area roadside.

As per the initial information, the traffic collision took place in the 3800 block of Imperial Avenue. The early reports showed that the man lost control of his 2008 Ford F250 for undetermined reasons while traveling west in the 3800 block of Imperial Avenue just before 2:30 p.m.

The van then swerved across the street and crashed into the back of the tractor-trailer, which was parked facing west next to the eastbound lanes while the driver was making deliveries. On arrival, first responders rushed the man to a hospital for treatment of life-threatening trauma. No one else was injured in the crash. No other details are available.

The accident remains under investigation.
