On Wednesday, a 29-year-old man was killed following a two-vehicle collision in Sterling Heights.
As per the initial information, the fatal motorcycle crash was reported at about 12:50 a.m. at northbound Van Dyke and westbound Metro Parkway. The early reports showed that a 34-year-old Chesterfield Township resident in a 2022 Dodge Ram 1500 was heading westbound on the Metro Parkway when they ran a red light.
According to the eyewitnesses, as the Dodge entered the northbound lanes of Van Dyke, the vehicle crashed into a 2016 Yamaha motorcycle that was also going north through a green light. On arrival, emergency crews transported the 29-year-old Sterling Heights man to the hospital where he later died of his injuries.
The driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with the authorities. Officials believe that drugs and alcohol were not involved in the accident. The intersection was blocked for around four hours as crews worked at the scene. No other details are immediately available.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
