Authorities identified 29-year-old Josiah Moy Gonzalez, a resident of San Fernando, who died following a motorcycle accident near Lopez Lake on Saturday night.
According to CHP, Gonzalez was heading westbound on a motorcycle on Lopez Drive past Grieb Ranch Way shortly before 7 p.m. Reports revealed that bike rider was going between 50 and 60 miles per hour. A 23-year-old Bakersfield man was driving a Kia with a 24-year-old female passenger in the eastbound lane.
According to the CHP, Gonzalez allowed his vehicle to go across the double yellow lanes for reasons that are yet to be known and stopped directly in front of the Kia. Both vehicles crashed head-on into each other as a result of which Gonzalez was ejected from his bike.
He suffered major injuries and was later pronounced dead by the officials. He was taken to the San Luis Obispo County Coroner’s Office. The female passenger in the Kia was taken to Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center in San Luis Obispo with minimal injuries.
An investigation is ongoing.
