27-year-old man in critical condition after an auto-pedestrian crash near border (San Diego, CA)

A 27-year-old man was critically injured after getting struck by a pickup truck Wednesday in San Ysidro.

As per the initial information, the auto-pedestrian crash took place in the 300 block of Mesa Avenue at around 3:45 a.m. The area is just east of Interstate 805 and a short distance north of the U.S.-Mexico border. The early reports showed that the pedestrian was walking northbound in the middle of the 300 block of Mesa Avenue when he was hit by a Ford F-150 pickup truck driven by a 27-year-old man.

On arrival, first responders rushed the pedestrian to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries. His name remains undisclosed at this time. No other injuries were reported. Authorities determined that alcohol did not play a part in the crash. No other information is available.

The incident remains under investigation.
