A 27-year-old man lost his life following a traffic collision Tuesday afternoon in rural Yuba County.
As per the initial information, the single-vehicle crash took place at about 4:30 p.m. on a rural stretch of southbound Highway 49 near Marysville Road south of Dobbins. The preliminary reports showed that a 27-year-old Gilroy man was driving a 2021 Toyota Tacoma pickup truck on the highway when it swerved off the roadway and hit a pair of trees.
The crash into the trees caused significant intrusion into the cab of the pickup. The driver received major injuries and was declared dead at the scene. Alcohol use was a possible factor in the wreck. The vehicle’s speed was unknown. The driver was the only occupant of the vehicle. He was reportedly buckled up at the time of the collision. No other details are available.
The crash remains under investigation.
