Authorities identified 25-year-old Ricardo Acosto Phillips as the man who suffered injuries following a single-vehicle accident on Monday morning in central El Paso.
As per the initial information, the motorcycle crash took place near Durazno Ave and North Piedras Street at about 3 a.m. Special Traffic Investigators responded to the scene a little before 5 a.m. The preliminary investigation showed that 25-year-old Ricardo Acosto Phillips was traveling on north Piedras at a high rate of speed when he failed to negotiate a curve.
Just then, his motorcycle slammed into a guard rail, causing him to fall 25 feet from an overpass and land in a gated lot. On arrival, emergency personnel rushed Phillips to University Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. No other details are immediately available.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
