25-year-old Angel Mendoza was killed and two other received injuries after a T-bone crash Monday night in Kennewick.
As per the initial information, the fatal car accident took place in the area of 31st Street and South Ely at 7:20 PM. The preliminary investigation showed that Mendoza failed to maintain control of his 2021 Mercedes Benz while driving south on Ely Street. Just then, the car went into the northbound lane of Ely Street, slamming into a Jeep.
Mendoza succumbed to their injuries at the scene; next of kin has been informed. Two occupants of the Jeep were rushed to the hospital with serious injuries, and they are both expected to recover. Officers shut down a portion of South Ely as crews worked at the scene. Authorities said that speed played a major part in the crash. No other details are available.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
