24-year-old Julia Schmidt and another woman died after a rear-end collision in Pomona (Pomona, CA)

On Monday, officials identified 24-year-old Julia Schmidt, from Chino, as the woman who lost her life following a two-vehicle crash Sunday in Pomona that also claimed the life of another woman.

As per the initial information, the fatal car accident took place on the Pomona (60) Freeway. The preliminary reports showed that Julia was riding in the 2013 Toyota Camry when it was rear-ended by a 2019 Honda Civic at around 2:05 a.m. Sunday on the eastbound freeway, west of Reservoir Street. Julia Schmidt succumbed to her injuries at the scene.

The woman driving the Honda also died of her injuries at the scene. Her identity remains undisclosed at this time. The driver of the Camry, only identified as a 24-year-old man, incurred only minor injuries in the crash and was transported to Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center. Alcohol is not considered to be involved in the crash. No other details are available.

An investigation is ongoing.
