22-year-old Rebecca Hamby dead, Victoria Delawey injured after their car fell into river in Knoxville (Knoxville, TN)

On Wednesday, 22-year-old Rebecca Hamby lost her life while Victoria Delawey suffered injuries following a single-vehicle accident on the Spur.

The fatal car crash took place on the Spur in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Park rangers, the Gatlinburg Police and Fire Departments, and the Pigeon Forge Police Department, all responded to the scene a little before noon. On arrival, responders found a Ford Fiesta submerged in the river on the Spur near Gum Stand Road.

The driver, identified as Victoria Delawey, was transported to the LeConte Medical Center with unspecified injuries. A passenger, identified as Rebecca Hamby, succumbed to her injuries after the crash. No additional details are made available.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
