22-year-old Miya Denise McBride succumbs to her injuries following a crash on I-20 (Shreveport, LA)

Authorities identified 22-year-old Miya Denise McBride, of Shreveport, as the woman who lost her life following a head-on collision early Sunday morning on I-20.

The fatal two-vehicle crash took place a little after 6 a.m. on I-20 near the Jewella exit. The preliminary investigation showed that McBride was heading westbound in the eastbound lane of Interstate 20 when her vehicle crashed head-on into an eastbound 18-wheeler, causing it to get engulfed in flames. Due to the impact, the woman was ejected from her vehicle.

On arrival, emergency personnel transported Miya Denise McBride to Ochsner LSU Health Hospital where she was later declared dead at 6:47 a.m. on Sunday. An autopsy has been ordered. The eastbound lane of Interstate20 at Jewella was shut down for multiple hours as crews worked at the scene. No other details are immediately available.

The crash remains under review.
