22-year-old Cole Segura killed after a solo-vehicle crash in New Iberia (New Iberia, LA)

Authorities identified 22-year-old Cole Segura as the man who lost his life following an ATV crash on Saturday afternoon in New Iberia.

As per the initial information, the fatal single-vehicle accident was reported at about 4 p.m. in the 400 block of North Landry Drive. The preliminary reports showed that an ATV heading north drifted off the road and crashed into a utility pole for undetermined reasons. The driver of the vehicle, identified as Cole Segura, from New Iberia, was not wearing a helmet and was ejected from the vehicle.

He suffered major injuries and was declared dead at the scene by the officials. Toxicology samples were obtained from the victim and given for analysis. North Landry Drive from Pelican Street to Jane Street was shut down Saturday evening as crew worked at the scene. No further details were provided.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
