22-Year-Old Christopher Coffman Died In A Motor-Vehicle Crash Near Clarkesville (Clarkesville, GA)

The Georgia State Patrol responded to a head-on collision on Highway 17 near Clarkesville that killed 22-year-old Christopher Coffman. 

Coffman was an occupant in a Jeep Renegade driven by Alexis White, 24, from Gainesville. White failed to stop at the intersection of GA 17 and Habersham Mill Road, resulting in the collision. 

The Jeep struck a southbound Ford F150 driven by Melvin Thompson, 61, of Clarkesville. Eyewitness Donn Nelson witnessed the truck spinning in the road and the Jeep flipping over and rolling down an embankment.

White suffered leg trauma and abdominal injuries. Thompson reported lower leg injuries.

 All three were transported to Northern Georgia Medical Centre in Gainesville. 

The crash is being investigated by the Georgia State Patrol Post 7 in Toccoa.
