21-year-old Willow Rose Yon dead after a three-vehicle pile-up on US-131 (Grand Rapids, MI)

Officials identified 21-year-old Willow Rose Yon as the woman who lost her life following a multi-vehicle wreck Sunday morning on US-131.

The fatal three-vehicle pile-up took place at about 3:15 a.m. on northbound US-131 between 28th Street and Burton Street. According to the investigation reports, Yon was driving a Volkswagen Jetta on the stretch of highway while a Chrysler 200, driven by a 22-year-old Grand Rapids woman, was traveling southbound on the highway in the wrong direction.

The Chrysler collided head-on with the Jetta. Both cars were then sideswiped by a tanker-truck traveling north. Official reported that the at-fault driver from Grand Rapids is still in the hospital in critical condition. The truck driver remained unharmed in the accident. No other details are made available.

An investigation is ongoing.
