Authorities identified 21-year-old Nicholas Krusmark and 23-year-old Clayton Carney as the victims who lost their lives following a single-vehicle accident that also injured three people on early Sunday morning in Longview.
The fatal car crash was reported at approximately 12:45 a.m. in the area of Pacific Way and Lone Oak Road. According to the investigation reports, a 2010 Scion tC coupe with five people inside was heading westbound on Pacific Way at a high rate of speed when it began to slide through a curve on wet pavement.
The vehicle then went into the oncoming lane, drifted off the roadway, went airborne and hit a large tree on the passenger side. The two passengers in the vehicle, identified as Nicholas Krusmark and Clayton Carney, both from Longview, suffered major injuries and were declared dead at the scene by the officials.
The driver, a 20-year-old Chehalis woman, was airlifted by Life Flight to Southwest Medical Center with critical injuries. The two other occupants, both 20 years old from Longview, were transported to St. John Medical Center. Both were upgraded from serious to moderate condition. Alcohol, marijuana use and speed are believed to have contributed to the accident. No other details are available.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
