21-year-old Jaime Perez and another died after a car crash on the South Side (San Antonio, TX)

Authorities identified 21-year-old Jaime Perez as the victim who died after a rollover crash late Wednesday on the South Side that also claimed the life of another person.

The fatal car accident took place near Research Plaza and S. New Braunfels Avenue. Jaime Perez and a 19-year-old woman were in the Dodge Challenger that veered off the road and landed upside, in what appeared to be a manmade pond.

On arrival, responding officials found both the people dead. Authorities received multiple 911 calls about the wreck. Tire tread marks and red paint were still evident Thursday morning, showing the path the car took as it jumped the curb, drove across a grassy area, collided with a tree, and then flipped over into the water.

Based on the markings, it seemed that the car had been heading East on Research Plaza when the driver lost control. No other details are available.

An investigation is continuing.
