20-year-old man hospitalized following a head-on crash in San Diego (San Diego, CA)

A 20-year-old man received injuries following a head-on crash Wednesday evening in the North City neighborhood of San Diego.

As per the initial information, the two-vehicle accident took place in the 14900 block of Via De La Valle. The preliminary reports showed that the victim was driving a 1999 blue Mazda Miata convertible eastbound in the 14900 block of Via De La Valle at 3:51 p.m. and traveled into the two-way center lane where he passed in front of a silver 2022 Chevrolet Volt EV that was driven by a 16-year-old girl going westbound.

Both drivers swerved into the westbound lane to avoid a crash, but ended up colliding head on. The Mazda driver had a broken left femur and suffered several other fractures. He was transported to a hospital with non-critical injuries. The Chevrolet driver complained of having pain but was not shifted to a hospital. Drugs or alcohol were not involved in the wreck. No other details are available.

An investigation is ongoing.
