Authorities identified 20-year-old Amber Lynn Bennett as the woman who lost her life following a crash late Monday night in Wichita Falls.
The fatal motorcycle accident took place at about 10:55 p.m. on U.S. 287 east of Wichita Falls, near F.M. 2393. The investigation reports showed that a 2017 Kawasaki motorcycle driven by 22-year-old Cole Crowder, of Brownwood, was going northbound on U.S. 287, and Bennett was his passenger.
For undetermined reasons, Crowder lost control of the motorcycle, throwing both occupants from the motorcycle. Crowder was thrown clear of the roadway, but Bennett came to a rest in the northbound lanes of U.S. 287. A passenger car was also heading north on U.S. 287 when Crowder and Bennet were ejected.
The driver of the passenger car was unable to stop in time and hit Bennett who was down in the roadway. Amber Lynn Bennett, from Wichita Falls, was declared dead at the scene by the Clay County Justice of the Peace. Crowder was rushed to United Regional with serious injuries. The driver of the passenger car remained unharmed in the accident. No other details are available.
An investigation is ongoing.
