Authorities identified 2-year-old Messiah Glover as the boy who lost his life after being hit by a vehicle Wednesday night while running toward an ice cream truck in Buckner Terrace.
As per the initial information, the fatal auto-pedestrian accident took place at about 8:15 p.m. at an apartment complex in the 4100 block of Delafield Lane, near Buckner Boulevard. The preliminary reports showed that Glover ran toward an ice cream truck parked on a curb. The boy then ran out in front of an SUV, driven by a 53-year-old woman, as it passed the parked truck.
On arrival, paramedics rushed him to a hospital where he died of his injuries. According to the officials, the woman did not see Glover, and she pulled over when she realized what happened. No charges are expected to be filed.
According to a neighbor, they noticed the white van with “Ice Cream” printed on the side and an SUV stopped in the complex’s main thoroughfare. It was further stated that the ice cream truck often drives through the complex after school when kids are seen playing or running through the cul-de-sacs. No other information is available.
An investigation is ongoing.
