According to the Orange County Fire Authority, a motor vehicle collision was reported on Tuesday afternoon in an Irvine apartment complex.
The collision occurred in the parking lot of the complex on the 200 block of Estancia, near lower Peters Canyon and the 261-toll road, a two-year-old toddler was struck and died at the scene.
Irvine Police Department Sgt. Karie Davies said that the driver of the van remained at the scene and cooperated with the police.
The incident took plat after 3:30 p.m.
The identity of the victim has not been released by the officials.
Prior investigation suggests that drugs or alcohol were not the factors involved in the crash.
According to the police, the van was operated by a third-party contractor.
