2 teens killed following a single-car crash in San Diego (San Diego, CA)

On late Monday, two people lost their lives following a suspected DUI crash in San Diego.

As per the initial information, the fatal car accident was reported a little before 11 p.m. on the sand near the parking lot of the beach off Torrey Pines Road. The early reports showed that a 2020 Subaru WRX driven by a 19-year-old driver lost control and hit a center median, causing his car to slam into a guardrail and go over a ledge onto the beach.

The car then struck several rocks before coming to a complete rest on the sand. In addition to the driver, there were two 19-year-olds and two 18-year-olds inside the vehicle. Two of the passengers were killed as a result of the crash while two others received serious injuries including a lung contusion, ankle fracture and pelvic/hip fracture. The driver incurred only minor injuries.

DUI was considered to be involved in the crash. It is unknown if the driver was arrested or what, if any, charges he might face. The identities of the victims have not been released at this time. No other details are available.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
