According to the California Highway Patrol, a multi-vehicle accident occurred in Martinez. The crash happened on Highway 4.
According to the investigators, a gray Honda Civic and a white Toyota Corolla were involved in the collision. The two unknown people were struck by various vehicles and were rushed to the hospital for treatment.
The officials stated that the unknown people suffered significant injuries and were pronounced dead. An 18-year-old Diana Zuniga and 49-year-old Jeremiah Smeby were identified as the victims who died in the collision.
According to the reports, it is not yet known if alcohol or drugs played a role in the collision. No additional information regarding the fatal crash was provided by the Deputies.
