On early Thursday morning, a man and a woman lost their lives following a pickup truck crash on the city’s North Side.
As per the initial information, the fatal single-vehicle accident took place shortly before 5:30 a.m. on a ramp from eastbound Loop 410 to Northwest Military Highway, not far from Blanco Road. The preliminary investigation revealed that the driver of a pickup truck failed to maintain control of his vehicle and ran up on a metal guardrail just before sliding along it into a concrete wall.
According to the officials, the driver might have fallen asleep or was not paying attention. Initially, responders believe that the driver was the sole occupant of the truck until they found a woman under the dashboard. Paramedics gave chest compressions before she was rushed by EMS to a hospital. Both the man and woman succumbed to their injuries in the accident.
The man and woman were not buckled up at the time of the collision. Reports further added that the truck is registered to someone in Devine, Texas. The Loop 410 eastbound ramp to Northwest Military was closed as crews worked at the scene. No other details are immediately available.
An investigation is ongoing.
