On Tuesday, two people lost their lives following a fiery crash in Taylor.
As per the initial information, the fatal three-vehicle wreck was reported at 7:55 a.m. on westbound Interstate 94 near Beech Daly Road. The preliminary investigation revealed that a pickup truck was going in the left lane of the freeway, while a semi-truck was in the center lane. At some point of time, a car came from an unknown direction and slammed into the pickup.
The force of the crash caused the pickup truck to run into the semi-truck. Due to the impact, the car and the pickup got engulfed in flames and came to a stop in the area of the left shoulder and ditch. On the other hand, the semi-truck stopped on the left shoulder blocking both the left and center lanes.
On arrival, officers found that the driver of the pickup truck had already gotten out and was on the ground with serious burns. Emergency responders extricated the driver of the car, who was also suffering from severe burns.
Both the victims were rushed to a nearby hospital, where they were later declared dead. The driver of the semi-truck remained unharmed in the accident. No other details are made available.
The crash remains under investigation.
