2 people injured after a single-car crash in Spokane Valley; 22-year-old Derek T Wickham arrested (Spokane Valley, WA)

On early Tuesday, two people suffered serious injuries following a DUI crash in Spokane Valley while officers arrested 22-year-old Derek T Wickham for driving under the influence.

The two-vehicle accident took place at around 6:30 a.m. in the 2400 block of N. Park Road. The early reports revealed that 22-year-old Derek T Wickham was driving while being impaired and speeding when he went off of N. Park Road and hit a tree. There were five occupants between the ages of 18 and 22 years old in the car at the time of the accident.

Two of the passengers and Wickham were transported to the hospital for treatment of their injuries. Officers later arrested Wickham and obtained a warrant to conduct a blood test. Wickham faces potential charges of vehicular assault. The Park Road was shut down early Tuesday as crews worked at the scene. No other information has been released by the authorities.

An investigation is continuing.
