On Thursday night, two people suffered injuries following a multi-vehicle wreck in Moses Lake.
As per the initial information, the six-vehicle pile-up was reported at 6:24 p.m. on WA-17 and E Wheeler Rd in Grant County. The preliminary investigation showed that a Moses Lake man driving a pickup truck and trailer was traveling northbound on SR-17 with five other drivers stopped at the intersection.
For unknown reasons, the truck driver reportedly ignored a red light and crashed into a vehicle driven by an Arlington, WA man who rightfully entered the roadway. Due to the impact, the Arlington man’s vehicle drifted into the southbound lane of WA-17 and collided with a 34-year-old Moses Lake woman’s vehicle, which then slammed into a car being driven by a 17-year-old girl.
After that, the truck driver continued northbound and ran into another car which ended up on WA-17. Debris from the wreck hit a Sedan that was in the southbound lane of the highway. Two people, including a 34-year-old woman and a 41-year-old man; both from Moses Lake, were transported to Samaritan Hospital in Moses Lake with unspecified injuries.
The driver of the truck is being charged with negligent driving to the first degree for his role in the crash. Reports further added that five vehicles and the suspect’s trailer were all totaled as a result of the accident. No other details are immediately available.
The crash remains under investigation.
