2 people in critical condition after a traffic crash in Las Vegas; Cassandra Valerie Leal faces charges (Las Vegas, NV)

On Sunday evening, three people suffered injuries following a DUI crash in Las Vegas.

The two-vehicle collision was reported at about 6:34 p.m. at E. Sahara Avenue and Maroney Avenue, just east of Maryland Parkway. According to the investigation reports, a driver identified as 30-year-old Cassandra Valerie Leal was driving a Scion TC traveling west on Sahara Avenue at an excessive speed.

At some point of time, her vehicle collided with a Dodge Dart that was going east on Sahara and making a left turn in front of her. The 25-year-old male driver of the Dart and his 39-year-old female passenger suffered critical injuries as a result of the collision.

All three were taken to Sunrise Hospital for treatment of their injuries. Officials later found out that Leal was impaired and she was booked in absentia for two counts of DUI resulting in substantial harm and two counts of reckless driving involving death or personal injury. No other details are made available.

An investigation into the crash is continuing.
