On Tuesday, two people suffered minimal injuries after a vehicle crashed into a mobile home in El Cajon.
As per the initial information, the single-vehicle crash took place moments after 8 a.m. on I-8 west of Dunbar Lane. The early reports showed that the driver was going on Interstate 8 when he failed to maintain control of the Chevrolet truck and drifted off westbound Interstate.
The truck plunged down an embankment bordering the highway, smashed through a chain-link fence and slammed into the back of the home at 15593 Olde Highway 80. The driver, a 30-year-old Alpine man, and a 24-year-old passenger received minor injuries with the driver taken to Sharp Memorial Hospital for treatment.
Both the victims were buckled up at the time of the collision. Four people live in the home, but two of them were in the house when the crash happened. The occupants of the building remained unharmed. The force of the collision pushed the structure back around four feet, transferring the tenants of the home, which operates as transitional housing for a local agency.
All four since have been placed elsewhere, officials mentioned. DUI was not suspected to be involved in the accident. No other details are immediately available.
The incident remains under investigation.
