On Thursday, two people suffered injuries following a multi-vehicle accident in Knoxville.
As per the initial information, the three-vehicle wreck took place at about 7:15 p.m. on I-40 East near Cherry Street. The preliminary reports showed that a Sedan traveling the wrong way on Interstate 40 East crashed head-on into two other cars. On arrival, emergency crews rushed two people to the hospital for treatment.
One person reportedly had potentially life-threatening injuries. Alcohol is not believed to be involved in the accident. The interstate was shut down for over an hour as crews worked at the scene. All lanes of I-40 have since reopened and the crash site has been cleared. No further details were provided.
The crash remains under review.
