Two people were hospitalized after the driver of the Dodge Ram pickup truck, who reportedly fell asleep while driving, struck an 18-wheeler from behind.
As per the initial information, the two-vehicle accident took place just after 7 a.m. Sunday on US 90, close to Ambassador Caffery. The early reports showed that the driver of the pickup had to be removed from the vehicle and taken to a local hospital.
The driver of the 18-wheeler also received injuries as a result of the collision and was taken to the hospital. As of now, both men are listed in stable condition. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor, however toxicology results are pending. No other details are available.
