2 people hospitalized after a car slams into a tree in Mira Mesa (San Diego, CA)

Two people received injuries after a car crashes into a tree on a center median Thursday in Mira Mesa.

As per the initial information, the single-vehicle accident took place just after 11:30 a.m. at 11180 Black Mountain Road. A 67-year-old female driver and a 73-year-old male passenger were injured in the crash. The woman, 67, was driving a silver Mercedes-Benz north on Black Mountain Road when her car veered to the left and struck a tree.

On arrival, first responders rushed both of them to a nearby hospital, where they were treated for serious but non-fatal injuries. It is unknown what caused the car to swerve to the left. No other details are available.

The crash remains under investigation.
