The California Highway Patrol reported a motor vehicle accident in Prunedale on Monday morning.
The officials stated that the crash happened at around 5:10 a.m. when a Ford Explorer collided with a Nissan Pathfinder head-on.
The officials confirmed that the driver and passenger of the Nissan, a 63-year-old and a 68-year-old were declared dead at the scene.
The officials stated that the driver of the Ford was rushed to Natividad Medical Center with major injuries.
The passenger in the Ford was reported to not be wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
The Monterey Coroner’s office will be released the identity of the deceased victims after the next of kin is notified.
The Police are investigating the crash to determine whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the fatal crash.
